“BEHIND THE APRON STRINGS” Another Homemade Birthday Cake this Summer and I’ve always wanted to try making Chocolate Curls, it was our sons Birthday & he wanted his favorite “German Chocolate” So This was my chance to try some of them :)
I made Dark chocolate cake and applied Dark Chocolate Frosting in the middle, Milk Chocolate on the outside and topped it off with Coconut Pecan! It was a sinful pleasure with a next day food hangover but so worth the indulgence. :)’
we cut a round from a small tree that had fallen from a windstorm last winter for the cake stand and my son being a outdoorsmen type of guy I thought it would be a nice accessory to the cake.
Melt your Choice of Chocolate with a little bit of Shortening and microwave until melted. Pour the Chocolate over the back of a cookie Sheet and spread thinly, put into the freezer for several minutes. Take a Metal Spatula and begin to slowly scrape & start at the edge of the cookie sheet until it starts forming a curl. If the Chocolate seems to soft put it back into the freezer. I had to keep doing that after each curl because it quickly kept softening up.
