“BEHIND THE APRON STRINGS” Another Homade Birthday Cake this Summer and I’ve always wanted to try making Chocolate Curls, it was our sons Birthday & he wanted his favorite “German Chocolate” So This was my chance to try some of them :)
I made Dark chocolate cake and applied Dark Chocolate Frosting in the middle, Milk Chocolate on the outside and topped it off with Coconut Pecan! It was a sinful pleasure with a next day food hangover but so worth the indulgence. :)’
we cut a round from a small tree that had fallen from a windstorm last winter for the cake stand and my son being a outdoorsmen type of guy I thought it would be a nice accessory to the cake.
Melt your Choice of Chocolate with a little bit of Shortening and microwave until melted. Pour the Chocolate over the back of a cookie Sheet and spread thinly, put into the freezer for several minutes. Take a Metal Spatula and begin to slowly scrape & start at the edge of the cookie sheet until it starts forming a curl. If the Chocolate seems to soft put it back into the freezer. I had to keep doing that after each curl because it quickly kept softening up.
frozen and ready
Satisfied with the outcome
Happy Birthday to our Son :)
“BEHIND THE APRON STRINGS” Our first Cucumber & Cherry Tomatoes from the Garden made a nice side salad along with our Homemade Red, Green Chili Beef Enchiladas! I made some without Cheese & with Pepper Jack Cheese. It was Wayyyyyyy to hot to be cooking in the house last night but well worth the taste 😋 #Organic #Vegetablegarden #Cherrytomatoes #Cucumbers #Enchiladas #Culturalcooking #Foodlover #Foodies #Foodblog

had a wonderful time camping and covered quite a bit of ground within a three day exscursion. Three bodies of water, River, Ocean and lake.
Nothing like some tasty Homade Fish Tacos and some slaw on the side at the Beach. It’s a simple meal to make while camping.
We camped at the Queets River in the Olympic National Park. Private and beautiful campsites right on the river. Gorgeous old growth Forest with beautiful “Spruce” Trees, totally Remote camping with no portable running water & pit bathrooms. We climbed up into the mountains on a long gravel road what seemed like for hours but as soon as we arrived it was a picturesque sight. The river was a gorgeous color of blue and the roaring of the river was a calming sound during our nights sleep.
Our second stop was at Kalaloch Ocean. We had beautiful weather and stunning sunsets.
And of course S’mores :)
Our last stop was “Lake Crescent” Awesome campgrounds. We hiked down a trail right next to our campsite and found a little private beach right on the lake. A perfect day to end our trip.
Its a Family “Carrot Cake” Recipe, my dad loved it! So when I found out it was my Son’s Girlfriends too, I knew I had to bake it, plus it was her 24th how perfect, 24 Carrot and she is a Diamond :)
I put in Raisins and Crushed Pineapple
I Doubled the Recipe so I could Make a Three Stacker
Garnished with Pecans
Carrots From Our Garden with Cream Cheese Frosting
